Coleto Creek Amateur Radio Club Meeting Minutes May 5, 2016 Attending: Jimmy Podsim - KD5QHH, Luci Podsim - KD5RIF, Hurshel Pruitt - WB5MEX, Otto Bluntzer - WB5RJB, Dave Dodge - NV5C, Harvey Babb - WB5MCT, Brian Haun - KG5AUZ Meeting called to order at 7:30 pm. Previous meeting minutes read by Luci. Small error detected regarding the date. Jimmy moved to accept the minutes with the correct date, Harvey second. Motion passed. Treasurer’s Report: We have $253.76 in the bank and $6 cash for a total of $259.76. Otto moved to accept, second by Brian, motion passed. Public Relations: Jimmy received a letter from the ARRL section manager stating that we needed to update the club’s info on the ARRL website. This has now been done. We also need to update and refresh the club’s website. Old Business: Free Standing Tower: Otto and his brothers came out to Jimmy and Luci’s house and picked up the tower. Repeater: Harvey and Hurshel came out to Jimmy and Luci’s on April 30 to work on the repeater. The LMR 240 was replaced with half inch heliax and a new connector was placed on the antenna end of the heliax. Echolink was set up to voice ID once an hour and Harvey installed a VNC on the Echolink computer so that it can be accessed remotely should changes be required. Users will need to contact Jimmy to get the current IP address and password to log in through VNC. After some discussion regarding linking the 64 to the 3.8, the subject was informally tabled. Field Day: The club will have Field Day at the Busy Bee on June 25 and 26. ET Radio: Dave volunteered to be in charge of coordinating with Otto and whoever else may be free to arrange a time to install the radio. Hurshel will finish getting the radio and computer ready this coming weekend. Repeater License: Hurshel will take care of renewing the license. New Business: Water Safari: Harvey coordinated shirt sizes and locations. There will be a preliminary race on Saturday if anyone wishes to watch. Donation of Alert radio (EAS unit): The Victoria Television group has offered to donate some Emergency Alert System radios to the club. These radios could be connected to the club repeater for weather alerting purposes. Since there are more radios than our club needs, we plan to offer the Victoria club some of them.
