February 2018 Minutes

Coleto Creek Amateur Radio Club February 1, 2018 Attending: Jimmy Podsim - KD5QHH, Luci Podsim - KD5RIF, Harvey Babb - WB5MCT, Otto Bluntzer - WB2RJB, Brian Haun - KG5AUZ and Hurshel Pruitt - WB5MEX Meeting called to order at 7:30 pm. Previous meeting minutes were read. Hurshel mentioned that the date for the Belton Hamfest should be April 7 rather than sometime in February. Jimmy moved to accept as corrected, second by Otto, motion passed. Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer absent. Public Relations: A letter has been written to the Church thanking them for the long time use of their fellowship hall. The letter was passed for signature and will be sent to the Church at the earliest time possible. An article announcing our move was published in the Yorktown paper an should also appear in the Cuero and Victoria papers. Points of Interest: Harvey showed a programable crystal which was purchased for the 19 machine. If it works well, it is another option for future use in other repeaters. The Belton Hamfest will be April 7 and Midland in March. The schedule for the Family Outdoor Expo has been sent out to all of the volunteers. Old Business: Battery Charger - Harvey picked up a charger from Harbor Freight. He submitted a bill for reimbursement. E. T. and Winter Field Day - Winter Field Day was held at the Busy Bee. Several members of the area clubs attended and some contacts were made. Generally, a good time was had by all. Antenna Trailer and Generator - Otto is going to buy two tubes for the trailer tires. Once the tires are good, he plans to build tire covers to protect them from further sun damage and install the plywood. After all that, he plans to start working on the generator. Several ideas were discussed regarding the best or most efficient way to replace the gas tank on the generator. New Business: Echolink - Jimmy recently got new internet service which allows Echolink to work better. Jimmy moved to adjourn, second by Harvey. Motion passed and meeting adjourned at 8:12 pm.
