Meeting Minutes, March 2017

Coleto Creek Amateur Radio Club Meeting Minutes March 3, 2017 Attending: Jimmy Podsim - KD5QHH, Luci Podsim - KD5RIF, Hurshel Pruitt - WB5MEX, Dave Dodge - NV5C and Harvey Babb - WB5MCT Meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm. Previous meeting minutes were read. Jimmy moved to accept as read, second by Harvey, motion passed. Treasurer’s Report: No changes since previous meeting. Harvey moved to accept, Jimmy second, motion passed. Public Relations: Jimmy noted that the fees to attend the Hurricane Conference in Victoria will be $25 per person. Points of Interest: The Belton Hamfest will be March 11. The Midland Hamfest will be the following weekend, March 18th. Also on the 18th the Georgetown Swapfest will be held. On March 1, a General Class study class and testing session was held in Victoria. Five hams tested to upgrade their license and four passed. Congratulations to the new General Class operators. Old Business: EAS Radios: Hurshel talked to Kevin John and learned that the radios are in a storage bin in Yorktown. We can contact him when we have the means and time to collect the radios. E. T.: Dave has done some work on the trailer. He started out caulking some cracks and discovered a large area of rotten wood. He fixed the rotten area and the door so that it closes and latches better. He also built a threshold and made several minor but important fixes. E.T. is now a in a little better condition than before but Dave still recommends attempting to find a new trailer rather than continuing to put time, effort and money into our current trailer. Chisholm Trail Event: There has still been no further communication on this. It may be a dead issue by now. New Business: The registration for the trailer plates is due. The letter was passed to Dave. Luci read a letter from DX Engineering regarding the possibility of using Skype to attend, during club meetings, a variety of training sessions offered by the company. After brief discussion, it was determined that the club does not have access to Wi-Fi at our meeting place and no member has sufficient data to support Skype. Dave asked about whether the trailer requires an inspection. Dave will look into the subject. Luci moved to adjourn, second by Jimmy. Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm. Submitted by Luci Podsim, Secretary
